Jessica Tuffley, 2003 Amy Award Winner
“As an artist, I create experimental video art and documentary films, a process which helps me understand myself, the world I live in and the relationship between the two,” Jessica Tuffley said in her 2003 Amy Award Artist Statement. “Ultimately it is the story found in these mediums that interests me. It is the story that articulates ideas, gives voice to emotions and reframes perspectives of the world. By shooting and editing my own work, I have truly internalized this concept. “
Tuffley used her Amy Award to facilitate and expedite a cross-country move to New York to continue developing her story-telling skills through experimental video art and film. She lived in New York for six years and Los Angeles for two years, after which she returned to the Pacific Northwest. Over the last several years she has produced independent films and shorts and developed television projects.
