Jonathan Hallet, 2009 Amy Award Winner
Susan Jackson of Bainbridge Arts and Crafts nominated Jonathan Hallet in 2009.
“Jonathan’s photography first came to our attention when he participated in our 2006 Mixed Nuts exhibition as a junior at Bainbridge High School,” Jackson wrote. “In 2006 he was also awarded the BAC First Place prize in BHS Spring Arts Festival for Photography/Color. The next year his photographs were exhibited twice at BAC; the 2007 Mixed Nuts show in February and also in May for our High School Award-Winners show where he was awarded a prize for black and white photography.”
He received the Rosalyn Gale Powell Scholarship to carry on his photographic skills at the University of Washington.
After receiving the Amy Award, Hallet traveled to Hawaii where he spent a year as a residential apprentice at the Laulima Farm learning organic farming and cooking. While there he also served as manager, coffee roaster, baker, drink alchemist, and, of course, photographer.
