Hello everyone,

As we are all hearing and reading, the emergence of COVID-19 has spurred heightened
awareness and diligence on everyone’s part. We, as with all the cultural organizations on the island, are monitoring conditions, taking precautions and supporting the efforts of our partner organizations. We are continuing to monitor CDC reports on the threat and spread of COVID-19 (“coronavirus”) and its impact on our community. We will help communicate what we learn as more information becomes available in the coming days and weeks.

What we are doing today:
AHB would like to offer our assistance with posting special announcements, advisories, cancellations, and other related information about your events. Your websites are an important access point for disseminating information critical to your constituents and your community. At this time, many events planned for the upcoming weeks are being postponed. And whenever possible, others are continuing to stay open with programs and events proceeding as planned. We are working diligently to keep our events calendar current and as we learn of changes to post them as quickly as we can. This keeps our website updated with all event cancellations, postponements and other changes. Anything we can do to help you communicate to your constituencies, please just let us know!

Here’s what we know right now:
There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent contracting this illness is to avoid being exposed. Additionally, CDC recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of this kind of respiratory disease:

– Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
– If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at
  least 60% alcohol.
– Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
– Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
– Stay home when you are sick.
– Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
– Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household
   cleaning spray or wipe.
