Linda Semlitz, President
Linda maintains a private practice in Child Psychiatry on Bainbridge Island. She lived and worked in Asia from 1995 – 2014. During that time she worked as a Medical Director and Director of Medical Affairs for Merck, Sharpe and Dohme, a pharmaceutical non-profit mental health organization in Tokyo that provided mental health treatment and disaster response after the 3/11 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown. She currently serves on the board of the Global Fund for Mental Health. She joined the AHB Board of Directors in 2017.
Linda is a veteran journalist who works as a freelancer since moving to Bainbridge in 2017. She taught journalism at Georgetown University, served as the DC editor for Glamour magazine, and earlier worked in the Time Inc. bureau for People. Linda is past president of the Journalism and Women Symposium and serves on the advisory council of Running Start, a DC-based nonprofit that motivates and trains young women to run for office. She joined the AHB board of directors in 2018 and has been instrumental in the editorial work for Currents Online.

Mike Lewars, Treasurer
Mike is a retired business executive and has served on the AHB board since 2005, as treasurer and past president. Mike was Director of Product Supply for Proctor & Gamble for Asia and North America. He is a member of Bainbridge Island Rotary serving as the Grants Committee Chair for 8 years, the Bainbridge Planning, the Alumni Schools Committee- Princeton University, and the Bainbridge Schools Foundation Board of Directors.
With over twenty years as an attorney, Nick has worked both as a solo practitioner representing individuals and small business as well as working in a large firm for corporate clients. Nick represents clients in numerous areas of law including real estate, insurance, bankruptcy, general business, personal injury, and creditor’s rights. Outside the office, Nick plays competitive soccer and surfs the Washington coast. He and his wife live on and tend a small organic farm.
Patricia is a retired public-school educator of 37 years and has been an active community volunteer for over 50 years. She has lived on Bainbridge Island since 2003. Patty joined AHB Board of Directors in 2010, chaired the Bainbridge in Bloom Garden Tour for seven years, and is currently serving on the Public Art Committee. Other community work includes serving as a Bloedel docent (2004 – current) and as a founding board member of SWERV.
After founding an ad agency in Silicon Valley, building and running it for more than 23 years, Vince had the opportunity to work with hundreds of companies to reach their goals. Vince’s team at DiCarolis Design & Marketing developed tools to effect growth, focusing primarily on start-ups. He helped clients with branding, demand generation, competitive positioning and marketing communication tools. Vince joined the AHB Board of directors in 2019.
In 2007 Paul retired from a career in software development and decided to pursue a lifelong interest in woodworking. He didn’t know exactly where this was headed but wanted to learn the craft of fine furniture making. In 2014 Paul and his wife moved to Bainbridge Island and Paul built a new shop. In addition to woodworking, Paul has served on the Board of the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is an angel investor for Social Entrepreneurs in the Seattle area. Paul joined the AHB board of directors in 2019.
Gigi is an artist but she was employed as a registered nurse for many years and raised two children. Her husband’s job brought her family to the Island where she was active in the Bainbridge Island Schools and PTOs for several years. Gigi worked as a docent at BIMA and Islandwood, and now dedicates more time to oil painting—which has become her dominant passion for the past five years. Her artwork has been shown at BAC, Blackbird Bakery, WAC, and Bainbridge Public Library. Gigi joined the AHB Board of directors in 2019.
Claire’s worked in the non-profit sector as the Associate Director of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in the Pikes Peak Region of Colorado. Her work included grant writing, data base management, program development, staff supervision and volunteer recruitment and training and oversight. Claire raised three children and was involved in numerous committees supporting the arts and athletics. On Bainbridge Island, she has volunteered at Islandwood and at St. Barnabus Episcopal Church.
Stephanie, a native of Seattle, attended Indiana University for opera performance and Cincinnati Conservatory for musical theater. She performed in the German production of Miss Saigon, the Disney World Premier of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the King and I at the Palladium Theater in London’s West End. These solo endeavors launched her career and with her original music, versatile sound and fusion of opera, pop and theatrical music created a new genre and style that has brought her global recognition including a solo concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Stephanie joined the AHB Board of Directors in 2019.
Carl works as Branch Manager for Realogics Sothebys International Realty on Bainbridge Island and has been involved with Real Estate since 2000. He previously worked as a chef/owner of Winslow Way Café, 1990 – 1999. His interests include painting, cooking, real estate, chamber music, gardening and community service. In the 1980’s his art was selected for an Art in Bloom poster and Poets-and-Artists Calendar. He has volunteered with the Bainbridge Community Foundation for its community grant cycle for the past two years.
